We were very fortunate for our November meeting to have Liz Thomas of Leeds come to take our meeting and demonstrate how to make Autumn Wreaths. She was an excellent teacher and it was a fun afternoon we had so much foliage to choose from. No two wreaths were the same and all turned out really nice be it using real foliage or artificial. Might inspire us to make Christmas themed ones for next month now we know how to put them together. One of our group was approached on the bus home and asked where she had bought her lovely wreath. We continue to have new ladies joining us as news of Buddy_Cups is getting out there via the GP Surgeries and Hospitals etc.
Buddy_Cups Book Club has had its third meeting at The Gala Theatre Café in Durham where a small group of our ladies come along and share their thoughts on the current book over a cuppa. Our last book was "The Lost Bookshop" and generally it came out 6 out of 10 on score points. Our new book to be reviewed in December is "Grave Expectations by Alice Bell.
On Saturday 4th November we had two tables for Buddy_Cups at the Coxhoe Market. We had a lovely supply of glass made by Gill and also pickled beetroot grown and supplied by Graham and he sold all but one jar of it. We also had some lovely embroidered pictures, bead keyrings, bookmarks, paintings, jewellery etc. We had a good morning and made lots of contacts with exhibitors who are there regularly and of course we had to have bacon butties and cake, would be rude not to 😃. We made just over £250 after costs which was very encouraging and will go into Buddy_Cups Funds.
Forthcoming Events - December 1st is our next monthly meeting and we will be gathering at 1pm. Rhoda will be speaking to us about the work of the Foodbank and we will be collecting suitable items to donate to the Foodbank locally. We will also be having Christmas nibbles supplied by the wonderful Phil and his Team at Hotel Indigo so ladies do not eat lunch you will have plenty to eat on the day. On Friday 15th December we are having our Christmas Social Event at 7pm till approx. 9pm for an evening of Christmas Music, Games, Food and chat. This event is open to all our Buddy_Cup members and their families and will hopefully get us in the Christmas Spirit.
