9th January saw the first Buddy Cups North East meeting of 2026. On a cold afternoon we had a lovely warm welcome, as always, at The Neighbourhood Cafe in Hotel Indigo, Durham. We had a last minute change to our programme and instead of the expected talk we had an Art activity inspired by positive words and led by Sue. Some ladies shared a few special words or poems then we got down to the actual art bit. Everyone had a fabulous time and really entered into the spirit

We had a lovely relaxing afternoon for our December meeting over a delicious Christmas lunch which Phil and his team prepared for us and as ever looked after us extremely well. We also had a quiz, courtesy of Phil and Claire Varley brought along some lovely crafted items to sell to raise funds for Buddy Cups. We also had a visit from Mrs Clause (Gill) who entered into the spirit of Christmas with great gusto. We might have to book her again for next year 🥰. We look for

We had a fun afternoon last Friday. Mark Solen gave a very interesting and informative talk on the work of The Solen Foundation. We will be keeping in tou ch with him going forward. It was also nice to welcome Sharon and Jacqeline to the group. We hope you were made to feel at home and look forward to getting to know you better. Despite the best efforts of Storm Amy on Friday a warm welcome was awaiting our Buddy Cups North East members at Hotel Indigo where we had a fun afternoon under the creative eye of our own Liz Beaumont who had created a central panel for our new banner which we can use when we are out and about at Craft Fayres etc. Liz brought along lots of lovely trinkets, threads, adornments for us to create our own mini squares which she will then attach around the central panel.
